The sad word on the street is
Hostess, maker of those American classic snack cakes -- Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Cupcakes, Ho Hos,
Sno Balls -- is planning to file for bankruptcy this week. How could this have happened? Hostess is more apple pie than Mom. But it gets worse. According to
Time Magazine, "The company, which also makes
Wonder Bread and the
Drake's line of snack cakes, has more than $860 million in debt," and this is their second Chapter 11 filing in less than a decade.
It's time to start hoarding, people! Maybe together as a nation, we can help bail out Hostess, Wonder Bread and Drake's, and save our childhood lunchbox institutions. It's worth a try!
