No water, no subways, limited cell service, no traffic lights. But there have been so many much more scary accounts. Fire, flooding. How are you all??? Post-Sandy images are dramatic, but if you know these places, not so fun to look at. The recently-restored beautiful antique carrousel in DUMBO is, on a good day, eerily aglow in a modern plexi box on the rocky banks of Brooklyn, just under the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges. Just unbelievable. The whole facade blew off (dropped off, crumbled off?) this apartment building near 14th Street on 8th Avenue. How? Super scary. The winds are not pleasant, to say the least. [image via Gothamist. they also have a video lower down on the page]

Who could have predicted this Sandy-related menace? One57, the incredibly luxury high-rise apartment with the 90 million dollar penthouse -- you know the one -- going up on W57th Street near Carnegie Hall and Central Park, is now the cause of upscale apartment evacuations and indefinite road closures to cars and pedestrians. Super scary Sandy wind gusts caused a compromise to this massive construction crane, said to be 75 floors up. With wind gusts above 50 mph, it is too dangerous to secure. Unbelievable. This totally blew my mind watching Project Runway last Friday. The Dollhouse New York HQ building is heavily featured on the "Finale, Part I"!!! (The designers' new work space is in our building!! That explains the frequent elevator trips with Tim Gunn back in July. Yes, I sprinted to catch those elevators once I saw him. Yes, I smiled goofily at him, as if to say with my eyes, HI TIM GUNN! I KNOW WHO YOU ARE! And yes, he looked away, nervously.)
