wait, what?

Wait, the second part of the High Line is officially open? How did we miss this? Well, technically didn't miss this. We caught it, on the "day of" thanks to seeing the Coolhaus truck in the Garment District today, which led us to studying their Twitter feed, which led us to their TwitPic and breaking news.

So, let's all explore the newly-opened continuation of the High Line!! And eat some Coolhaus ice cream sandwiches! And wear sun block. Because, while the High Line is a very interesting elevated park on the old rail road tracks on the West Side, it certainly isn't shady. Or cool. And today's a scorcher in NYC.

coolhaus in the haus!

I wish I had my camera today! Rats. So here's a pic of the NYC Coolhaus truck
from the good ole Internet. [image via Midtown Lunch]

Coolhaus in the haus! Where haus=Garment District. Yes, Coolhaus, my favorite California architectonic ice cream sandwich mobile food truck is in NYC (old news). The new news: I spotted them serving in the Garment District today. Well, to clarify: the outskirts of the Garment District. Sixth Avenue between 39th and 40th. That's close enough. I wonder if this spot will be a regular thing for them. I hope so. Ice cream sandwiches are five bucks, which is a little steep, but when you consider how much of a homemade treat it is, well, let's just say, you can afford to treat yourself every once in a while, right?

Check out Coolhaus on Twitter to follow their NYC parking spots, day-to-day.

coolhaus rocks

And the good news is...

Our Sales Team is in LA for LA Market this week. Apparently the show started today, and apparently it's raining in LA. Well, that is a bummer. It's raining here in NYC too (which is a bigger bummer if you ask me, because, well, I'm in NYC...) But anyway, when the sun doesn't shine in LA, it just isn't pretty. People don't tend to function normally. The roads become super-slippery! Well at least there is still Coolhaus! Our favorite ice cream sandwich, for sure.

coolhaus melts our hearts

We have been loving the vibe at Coolhaus lately. We religiously follow their Twitter feed, even though we're in NYC and they're in LA. The concept behind their ice cream sandwiches and their food truck is genius. Ice cream sandwiches based on architecture! Retro California-style 50s architecture that is. The best!

It seems that the actual sandwich includes a sloping roof -- made from a hand-cut cookie. Mmmm hand-cut cookie. But I wonder if it includes a chimney? They could make it out of a marshmallow...

If I were in LA right now, I would totally sample the "Mintimalism" (chocolate cookie, mint chip ice cream). However, title-wise, my favorite is the "Mies Vanilla Rohe" because who doesn't love Mies van der Rohe, master of Modern architecture?

Or I could just say, "Dollhouse loves Coolhaus." Direct and to the point.
