mr softee debuts

The Mister Softee truck is parked outside 1407 Broadway! That means it must be warm out, right? Or it means Mister Softee got bored with his winter job, and is eager to serve you.

40th and 6th just isn't the same without you

Dear Miss Softee:

Rumor has it that you will be back serving up your special brand of Mister Softee come June 1. We really really miss your concoctions, especially the salty-sweet combos that include crushed pretzels and caramel or crushed potato chips and choco-dip. Mmmmm. Plus 40th and 6th just isn't the same without you. It is a cold and lonely corner without your Mister Miss Softee truck parked there. We miss you! We hope you come back!

Girl Power!

love 'n stuff,

and now, a sweet treat for the new yorkers who didn't go to magic

Equal opportunity snacking is what we stand for here at Dollhouse. Earlier we posted for our Dollhouse sales team currently at MAGIC about a great cupcake spot that delivers all over Las Vegas. Half our company is at MAGIC as we speak (booth #JR2600), showing all the great new styles from Dollhouse. The other half is here in NYC, thinking about snacking as 3pm approaches. Miss Softee to the rescue. Yes you read that right. Miss not Mister. If you love the sweet/salty combo, and who doesn't, Miss Softee is currently at 40th & 5th selling today's special: Potato Chip Choco Dip Cone. I know! Are our eyes deceiving us? We'll just have to walk over and sample for ourselves.

it's almost snack-time!

It is 1:01 as I write this, and I am still eating my lunch (downstairs salad bar today--I was in the mood for a strange combination of foods*), so I really shouldn't be thinking ahead to snack-time already. But I am. It's almost 4th of July weekend, which is shaping up to be pretty festive already. Holiday = snacks? Well, yes. Why not celebrate early with some tasty treats? That's my philosophy anyway.

So what are the options? It is Midtown. Which means, pickins are slimmer. Well there's a giant chocolate chip cookie at Pain Quotidien. Very crispy and delicious. $3.50. Yes, pricey, but enough to feed 4. Then there's Macaron. $1.95 for a very French macaron. Ooh la la. But you have to get the iced tea to go with it. So that runs close to $5. There's always a Starbucks Frappuccino Light. A high price for low-cal at nearly $5 for a medium, but what can you do. Sometimes you have to pay more to save on calories. There's always the Treats Truck. Where are they today? Or the newest truck, Street Sweets (see above). Kee's Chocolates. Do they still have a shop inside the HSBC Bank on 5th and 40th? And then there's good old Mister Softee. 3 bucks. Tasti D-lite? $3.50. Crumbs cupcake? $2.95 for a smaller one. What to choose? Please help!

*Well if you must know, roasted asparagus, brussel sprouts, carrots, zucchini, cauliflower, a bit of spinach, some pasta, some rice noodles with veggies, 3 mini mozzarella balls. That's about it.

ice cream on every street corner

Great graphics.

I think this truck dates back to the 50s. So great!

The Ice Cream Man! On 39th and Broadway in the Garment District.
Photographed today!

The most amazing thing about Midtown in the summer is that there is an ice cream truck (Mister Softee!), it seems, on every street corner. Ice cream everywhere. It seems like heaven to me. And a cone with sprinkles is only $2! People say New York is expensive. Hah.

Although it is not summer today, the Ice Cream Men are back. Check out two trucks in the Garment District: 39th and Broadway is $2 for a cone; 41st St and 6th Avenue is $3 for a cone. It pays to comparison shop...
